A24 has released a new trailer for Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist, which earned seven Golden Globe nominations and a spot on Mashable’s list of the year’s best films.

The Brutalist stars Adrien Brody as brilliant Jewish Hungarian architect László Toth, who arrives in the United States following World War II. Separated from his wife Erzsébet (Felicity Jones, Rogue One) and niece Zsófia (Raffey Cassidy, White Noise), László must make a new life in Pennsylvania. There, he meets wealthy industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce), who commissions him to build a community center. Yet László will soon find that he may have to compromise parts of his vision and identity to assimilate into a country that seems to want to reject him at ever turn.

In his review for Mashable, Siddhant Adlakha lauded The Brutalist as “both a densely-packed text, filled with rich thought on the world at large, as well as an excitingly rhythmic work of cinema that moves with a fearsome passion. It’s hard not to think of it as a new American masterpiece.”

The Brutalist hits select theaters Dec. 20.
