The bumps are real.
After some Google Pixel 8 Pro owners complained about odd, circular bumps in their phone’s display, Google admitted that the issue is real.
“Pixel 8 phones have a new display. When the screen is turned off, not in use and in specific lighting conditions, some users may see impressions from components in the device that look like small bumps. There is no functional impact to Pixel 8 performance or durability,” a Google spokesperson told 9to5Google.

While the “no functional impact” part is good news, it’s still odd to see unevenness in the phone’s display, even if it’s only in specific lighting conditions and with the display turned off.
The warranty on the Pixel 8 Pro is one year, though some users are worried that the issue could get worse over time. It’s unclear whether Google will replace devices that exhibit the issue.
Mashable’s reviewer did not notice these imperfections on his units, and the Pixel 8 Pro is still an amazing phone.
