Folks who like gaming on-the-go got some good news from Apple on Thursday.
In a blog post on its developer website, Apple confirmed that third-party video game streaming apps from the likes of Xbox and Nvidia are now permitted on the App Store.
The Cupertino-based tech giant makes this announcement after years of forcing users to clunkily stream games via mobile browsers.
“Developers can now submit a single app with the capability to stream all of the games offered in their catalog,” Apple wrote in the blog post.
This should make life a lot easier for people who utilize services like Xbox Game Pass’s cloud streaming, allowing them to play console and PC-quality games on-the-go.
It’s always been possible to use those services on iOS, but again, you had to do so through a mobile browser, which just isn’t as elegant as using a fully featured mobile app. Now, that problem will be a thing of the past.
At least this week brought some good tech news.
