Game of Thrones may be a distant memory, but the Westeros train is still chugging gamely along.
As well as House of the Dragon making a glorious (if disturbing) return to our lives, we’ve also got another spinoff officially in the works: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight, has now gone into production.
The story follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg (these two are Dunk and Egg, a phrase you may have heard before) on their adventures across the Seven Kingdoms, taking place around 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones (so around 100 years after House of the Dragon).

The image above is the first we have and — as you may have guessed from the way he towers over everyone else in shot — the man is Ser Duncan, played by former rugby union player Peter Claffey. The cast also includes Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Barotheon, and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.
“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends,” reads the logline.
