It appeared that Google Maps was having serious issues Wednesday morning. Users reported lots of problems, a according to Down Detector.
Reports of issues on the site increased sharply from about 6:30 a.m. ET to 9 a.m. ET. Maps was working correctly for this reporter, though that does not mean there were not widespread issues elsewhere.
The timing of the problems with Maps isn’t ideal, considering that would be the timeframe lots of folks would be using the service to get to work.
There were a number of posts on X / Twitter about people having problems with Google Maps.
It appeared that users seemed to have issues getting search results to populate in Maps. That would make it difficult, if not impossible, to enter your destination when looking for directions.
Maps is obviously an essential tool for lots of people and hopefully it’ll be back to normal soon.
