President makes good on campaign promise and issues pardons and commutations over deadly 2021 insurrection
Donald Trump on Monday issued presidential pardons for about 1,500 people, including some convicted of violent acts, who were involved in the January 6 attack on Congress, making good on his promise to act in such cases on day one of his second term.
In addition to the pardons, he issued six commutations for cases that he said needed “further research”.
